Delete your account

1. Sign in to The Bookish Shelf (in the app or at thebookishshelf.com).
2. Go to Account.
3. Scroll to Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, and tap Yes, delete forever.

Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no recovery step.

If you can't sign in, email hello@thebookishshelf.com from the address on your account with the subject "Account deletion request". We verify ownership and delete the account within 30 days (usually within a few business days).

You don't have to close your account to remove data. Inside the app you can delete individual books, reviews, mini reviews, ratings, journal entries, wishlist items, reading goals and shelf decorations at any time — each item has its own delete option, and removal is immediate and permanent.

You can also email hello@thebookishshelf.com with the subject "Partial data deletion request", telling us which data you want removed. We verify ownership and action the request within 30 days, and your account stays active.

• Your login credentials and profile (name, nickname, avatar, preferences)
• Your books, shelves, series, wishlist and TBR
• Reviews, mini reviews, ratings, journal entries and reading goals
• Shelf decorations, badges and saved layouts
• Subscription records held in our database

• Payment and invoice records kept by our payment processors (Stripe, Apple, Google) for legal and tax purposes — typically up to 7 years. We cannot delete these.
• Automated encrypted backups, which roll off within 30 days.
• Anonymised, non-identifying usage counts that can't be linked back to you.
